Jadeja's contribution of 41 not out was also valuable, as he and Gill combined for an unbroken 99-run stand. This partnership helped India recover after a mini-collapse that saw them slip from 182/2 to 211/5.

Former England pacer Steven Finn noted the shorter boundary distances at Edgbaston, suggesting it could be a factor influenced by England's "Bazball" approach. Gill, however, capitalized on the dimensions, finding the boundary with regularity.

Looking ahead to Day 2, India will aim to build on their solid foundation. The weather forecast suggests a pleasant day with a mixture of sunshine and clouds, ideal for batting. Gill and Jadeja will be key to India's hopes of posting a formidable total, potentially exceeding 500, to put pressure on England's batting lineup.
