Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo with an improved bid worth up to £70 million. The Red Devils have already had two offers rejected for the Cameroon international, but they remain determined to bring him to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo has been a key target for United manager Ruben Amorim, who is looking to bolster his attacking options after a disappointing season where they finished 15th. The 25-year-old has a proven track record in the Premier League, scoring 70 goals in nearly 250 appearances for the Bees. He is also said to average a goal or assist every other game.

Brentford are reluctant to let go of one of their key players, but they may be tempted by a substantial offer. Reports suggest that the Bees have grown frustrated by the slow progress of negotiations with Man Utd. It is also believed that Mbeumo himself is keen on a move to Old Trafford. However, Brentford will not let Mbeumo leave without securing a replacement. They are said to have made a club-record bid for former Chelsea starlet Omari Hutchinson, who is currently at Ipswich.

United may have received a financial boost to help fund their pursuit of Mbeumo. They are set to receive around £7.2 million due to a 20 per cent sell-on clause inserted in the deal that saw Alvaro Carreras move to Benfica last summer. Carreras has since joined Real Madrid. This comes after United recently banked around £6 million from Anthony Elanga’s £55 million move to Newcastle.

The transfer saga surrounding Mbeumo has taken several twists and turns, with reports of Tottenham also being interested in the player. However, it seems that Mbeumo only wants to move to Old Trafford. Newcastle's interest in Brentford's Yoane Wissa could further complicate United's pursuit of Mbeumo.

If United fail to meet Brentford's valuation of Mbeumo, they may have to consider alternative targets. However, Amorim seems determined to get his man, and the improved bid suggests that United are willing to go the extra mile to secure his signature. The coming days will be crucial in determining whether Mbeumo will be lining up for Manchester United next season.
