Francesco Bagnaia delivered a stunning performance at the Automotodrom Brno, claiming pole position for the Czech MotoGP after a dramatic qualifying session. The factory Ducati rider set a new lap record of 1:52.303, marking his first pole position of the 2025 season. Bagnaia's achievement is particularly remarkable considering he had to fight his way through Q1 after a difficult start to the weekend.

The final minutes of qualifying were filled with drama. Marc Marquez, Bagnaia's teammate, was on a blistering lap that looked set to snatch pole, but he crashed at the penultimate corner, Turn 13. Despite the crash, Marquez will start the race from second place on the grid. Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo secured the final spot on the front row, qualifying in third.

The qualifying session was further punctuated by other incidents. Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi crashed at Turn 1, bringing out yellow flags. Johann Zarco also crashed at Turn 13, the same corner as Marquez. Despite the incidents, Marquez is not expected to be penalized for crashing in a yellow flag zone, as replays showed the yellow flags were not yet displayed for Zarco's fall when Marquez crashed.

Bagnaia's journey to pole position was far from straightforward. He was outside the top ten after the first run in Q2 and had to abort his second lap due to traffic. However, he found clear track later in the session and capitalized with a record-breaking lap.

Behind the front row, Marco Bezzecchi will lead the second row, despite his crash in Q2. Joan Mir secured his best qualifying result of the season, starting fifth, followed by Raul Fernandez in sixth, also his best Saturday result this season. Pedro Acosta heads the third row in seventh, with Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco completing the row. Jack Miller, Enea Bastianini, and reigning world champion Jorge Martin round out the top twelve.

The resurfaced Brno circuit played a significant role, with lap times expected to be much faster than the previous record. The ten-lap sprint race is scheduled for later today, promising more thrilling action.
