The final day of the fifth Test between India and England at The Oval is set for a thrilling conclusion, with England needing just 35 runs to win and India requiring four wickets. The match is hanging in the balance after rain interrupted play late on Day 4. England closed Day 4 at 339 for six, chasing a target of 374.

India fought back with renewed energy in the final session of Day 4, after Joe Root (105) and Harry Brook (111) had formed a 195-run partnership that appeared to be taking the game away from them. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj delivered crucial blows, dismissing Jacob Bethell and Root in quick succession as the old ball began to offer movement again.

Brook had earlier counter-attacked, scoring 111 off 98 balls, while Root played a steadying role. At tea, England were cruising at 317 for 4, needing just 57 more runs. However, India's bowlers responded after the break. Under heavy skies, the pitch came to life, and England could only add 22 runs before bad light and rain halted play. Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith are at the crease, with a new ball just 3.4 overs away.

All four results are still possible as the Oval Test enters Day 5. Rain may end up being the deciding factor. England will be hoping to avoid any quick wickets, while India will be aiming to create some chaos. India will be hoping to utilize the second new ball to their advantage.

Harry Brook has had an inconsistent series, but he ended it on a high note with a century that put England in the driver's seat. He was fortunate when Siraj missed a catch when he was on 19, but he made sure England took control of the chase in his partnership with Joe Root.

RP Singh praised Siraj and Prasidh for keeping England's batters, particularly Joe Root and Jacob Bethell, in check. He added that Krishna dismissed Joe Root with a good ball. He also noted that their excellent lengths contributed to the dismissal of Joe Root.
