Tottenham Hotspur's Owners Firm: Club Not for Sale, Rejecting All Expressions of Interest Unambiguously

Despite recent reports of a potential record-breaking takeover bid, Tottenham Hotspur's owners, ENIC, have firmly stated that the club is not for sale. The declaration comes amidst speculation of a £4.5 billion offer from an American consortium led by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick.

Reports suggest that Earick, who previously attempted to buy the Formula E team Maserati, has assembled a 12-person group, including investors from the NFL and NBA. The proposed deal involves an initial £3.3 billion payment, with an additional £1.2 billion allocated for player transfers and wages, earmarked for head coach Thomas Frank. This total package would surpass the £4.25 billion acquisition of Chelsea in 2022. As an added incentive, Earick has reportedly secured a lucrative £250 million stadium naming rights deal.

However, insiders close to the Lewis family, who operate Tavistock, the company behind ENIC, have refuted these claims, asserting that their position remains unchanged: Tottenham is not for sale. The family has also reportedly not received any formal bid or expression of interest from Earick's consortium.

ENIC currently holds 87% of Tottenham Hotspur. Due to the remaining shares being publicly traded, the club is subject to the UK Takeover Code, which mandates that any expression of interest or bid must be lodged with the Takeover Code panel and made public. As of yet, this has not occurred.

This is not the first time Tottenham's ownership has been the subject of speculation. Earlier in September 2025, ENIC dismissed two preliminary expressions of interest. One came from PCP International Finance Limited, led by Amanda Staveley, who brokered the Newcastle buyout in 2021. The other was from a consortium of investors led by Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited.

In response to these previous approaches, Tottenham released a statement asserting that the club was not for sale and that ENIC had no intention of accepting any offers. CEO Vinai Venkatesham has also emphasized the Lewis family's long-term commitment to the club, stating their involvement will continue "through the generations". To reinforce this commitment, younger members of the Lewis family are expected to have a more visible presence at Tottenham.

The recent departure of long-time chairman Daniel Levy further fueled speculation about a potential change in ownership. However, the club has moved to dispel these rumors, reiterating that ENIC is not looking to sell its stake.

While the possibility of a takeover remains a topic of discussion among fans and media, the current stance of Tottenham's owners is clear: the club is not on the market. Whether this position would change in the face of an exceptionally high offer remains to be seen.
