Pakistan Women vs Bangladesh Women, ODI World Cup 2025 Live: Nahida Akter Dominates; Pakistan Struggles, Losing 4 Wickets

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 is underway, and Pakistan Women and Bangladesh Women faced off in the 3rd match of the tournament at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on October 2, 2025. Pakistan opted to bat first after winning the toss. Both teams were looking to start their campaigns on a positive note.

Bangladesh is making its second World Cup appearance, after debuting in 2022. They qualified for the mega event after winning three out of five games in the qualifiers. Pakistan also qualified through the qualifiers and were hoping to bounce back from a disappointing last World Cup, where they won just one match out of seven.

Pakistan's start to the innings was shaky, with Marufa Akter striking early to put them under pressure. At 26/2 in the 6th over, Pakistan was slowly recovering after the early jolts, with Muneeba Ali and Shamim Hossain steadying the innings. The pair built a 40+ run stand, rotating the strike well and finding some timely boundaries. However, just as they were regaining control, Nahida Akter struck, removing Muneeba. Soon after, Nahida Akter took the wicket of Shamim with a caught-and-bowled dismissal. Pakistan were 47/4 in 13.4 overs.

Going into the match, the head-to-head record between the two teams stood at 16 games played, with Pakistan winning 8 and Bangladesh 7, with 1 no result/tied.

The predicted playing elevens were:

  • Bangladesh Women: Shorna Akter, Fargana Hoque, Sharmin Akhter, Nigar Sultana (c) (wk), Sobhana Mostary, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Nahida Akter, Sumaiya Akter, Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter.
  • Pakistan Women: Muneeba Ali, Omaima Sohail, Sidra Amin, Fatima Sana (c), Natalia Pervaiz, Eyman Fatima, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Syeda Aroob Shah, Diana Baig, Rameen Shamim, Nashra Sandhu.

The match was scheduled to start at 3:00 PM IST. Live streaming was available on the JioStar app and website, with live broadcast on the Star Sports Network.
