Cholowski's journey to the Devils began with a trade from the Islanders in exchange for forward Adam Beckman on March 7, 2025. He then signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $775,000 with New Jersey on Tuesday. He played six regular season games and two Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Devils. Prior to the trade, in 33 games with New York, Cholowski posted three goals and seven assists, along with 30 blocked shots.

Originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings with the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, Cholowski made his NHL debut on October 4, 2018. Throughout his career, he has played for the Red Wings, Seattle Kraken, Washington Capitals, Islanders, and Devils, accumulating 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists) in 156 NHL games.
