New Jersey Devils' strong depth scoring powers impressive start to the 2025-26 NHL season.

The New Jersey Devils have ignited the 2025-26 season with a noticeable spark from their depth players, complementing the expected contributions from their star players. This enhanced secondary scoring is proving to be a crucial element in their early success.

After a 42-33-7 record last season, finishing third in the Metropolitan Division, the Devils are aiming for a deeper playoff run this year. Key additions to the roster, such as Connor Brown and Evgenii Dadonov, were specifically targeted to bolster the team's offensive depth. Brown, a 31-year-old right-winger signed to a four-year contract, brings experience and the potential to contribute on the bottom two lines. Dadonov, a 36-year-old forward on a one-year deal, is expected to provide further depth.

One player generating considerable excitement is rookie Arseny Gritsyuk. His performance during the preseason showcased his ability to skate, create plays, and, most importantly, score. Gritsyuk's integration into the lineup is anticipated to significantly improve the Devils' depth scoring and power play.

Other players expected to contribute to the Devils' secondary scoring include Dawson Mercer and Paul Cotter. Mercer, who is likely to see time on the second or third line, has the potential to exceed 30 points this season. Cotter, in a contract year, is also being counted on to provide scoring from the bottom six.

The Devils' depth is especially important, considering injuries to key players. Seamus Casey, Marc McLaughlin, Johnathan Kovacevic and Stefan Noesen are currently on injured reserve. Evgenii Dadonov will miss at least the next two games due to injury.

Despite these injuries, the Devils' roster boasts a strong mix of veterans and promising young players. The forward lines feature Jesper Bratt, Connor Brown, Paul Cotter, Evgenii Dadonov, Cody Glass, Arseny Gritsyuk, Lenni Hameenaho, Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, Marc McLaughlin, Shane Lachance, Juho Lammikko, Timo Meier, Dawson Mercer, Ondrej Palat and Stefan Noesen. The defense includes Seamus Casey, Dennis Cholowski, Brenden Dillon, Dougie Hamilton, Luke Hughes, Johnathan Kovacevic, Simon Nemec, Brett Pesce and Jonas Siegenthaler.

With a blend of established stars and emerging talent, the New Jersey Devils are poised to be a formidable force in the Eastern Conference this season.
