India's Youth Eagerly Anticipates Messi's Arrival: Football Fever Grips Students, Practice Takes Over Homework.

The fervor is palpable. Textbooks lie unopened, replaced by dreams of perfectly executed free kicks and mesmerizing dribbling skills. As India eagerly anticipates the arrival of Lionel Messi for his three-day "GOAT Tour" from December 13-15, a wave of football mania is sweeping through the nation's youth.

Dubbed "'No Homework, Only Footwork'", the atmosphere reflects the priorities of young fans more interested in emulating their hero than solving equations. Messi's tour, encompassing Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi, promises a series of high-profile events and interactions. The Argentine legend, fresh from securing his 48th career trophy, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, various state Chief Ministers, celebrities, and thousands of fans.

Kolkata will be the first city to welcome Messi, with his arrival expected in the early hours of December 13. A packed schedule awaits him, including a meet-and-greet, the virtual unveiling of a statue, and a friendly exhibition match at Yuva Bharati Krirangan. West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alongside prominent figures like Sourav Ganguly and Shah Rukh Khan, are expected to grace the occasion.

Hyderabad is also gearing up for Messi's visit, which includes a private interaction at the Taj Falaknuma Palace for select invitees and an exhibition match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. He will participate in a 7-a-side match alongside Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, followed by a musical evening in his honor.

The tour is organized by promoter Satadru Dutta, who has also invited Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. Tickets for public events are available on the District app, with prices starting at Rs 4,500 in most cities and Rs 8,250 in Mumbai. Messi will fly in from Miami, with a layover in Dubai.
