Rob Edwards sees Wolves gelling and finding their rhythm after dominant FA Cup victory over Shrewsbury.

Rob Edwards believes Wolves are beginning to find their rhythm after a commanding 6-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup third round at Molineux. The win propels Wolves into the fourth round of the competition.

Jorgen Strand Larsen's hat-trick led the charge, supported by goals from Jhon Arias, Rodrigo Gomes, and Tolu Arokodare. John Marquis scored a penalty for Shrewsbury, briefly narrowing the deficit. However, Wolves' dominant performance ensured a comfortable victory.

Edwards expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting the importance of building momentum. "It was a good day all round and nice for the supporters to celebrate some goals," Edwards said. "What could've been a tricky day turned out to be an enjoyable one".

Wolves started the match strongly, with Jorgen Strand Larsen and Jhon Arias putting them ahead within the first 11 minutes. Shrewsbury responded with a penalty from John Marquis after Arias fouled him, but Wolves quickly regained control. Strand Larsen completed his hat-trick in the second half, with further goals from substitutes Rodrigo Gomes and Tolu Arokodare sealing the victory. The attendance at Molineux was 24,258.

Edwards emphasized the significance of maintaining momentum, particularly given Wolves' position at the bottom of the Premier League. "I'd be stupid in the position I'm in at the moment to make wholesale changes when we're just starting to build some momentum and see the team click a little bit," he stated. He further added, "We are progressing and slowly improving," acknowledging the positive performances and growing belief within the team.

Strand Larsen's future at Molineux has been subject to speculation, but Edwards praised his commitment and attitude. "He's really pleased. He's working hard, his attitude has been great and he understood why he hasn't started the last few games," Edwards commented. He added, "His commitment has never wavered. He was brilliant today in everything he did". Edwards acknowledged Strand Larsen's continued commitment to helping the team.

Looking ahead to the fourth round, Edwards stressed the importance of treating every game with the same level of respect and preparation. Edwards, a former Shrewsbury player, has personal connections to the club, including his cousin being part of the Shrews' coaching staff. He was determined to secure a victory and avoid any potential slip-ups against the League Two side.

Edwards shifted the training schedule to accommodate the weather conditions, showing consideration for the players' safety. He also expressed gratitude to the ground staff for their work in clearing the pitch.

Wolves will look to carry their improved form into their upcoming Premier League fixtures, hoping to climb up the table and secure their place in the top flight.
