Marco Silva has lauded Harry Wilson's exceptional form but remains uncertain about the Welsh international's long-term future with Fulham. After Wilson's pivotal role in Fulham's 3-1 FA Cup victory against Middlesbrough, where he scored a crucial equalizer, Silva admitted he couldn't guarantee Wilson's stay at the club beyond the current season.
Wilson, 28, is currently enjoying a stellar run of form, with goals in his last three games, including strikes against Liverpool and Chelsea. His contract with Fulham is set to expire at the end of the season, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his future.
"I don't know if I am going to have him (Wilson) in one week, 15 days, three months or at the end of the season, with good or bad news. I cannot guarantee anything," Silva stated. Despite the uncertainty, Silva praised Wilson's current performance, saying, "What I do know, is that he is playing the best football of his career. He is in the best moment of his career and there is no doubt about it".
Silva also commended Wilson's work ethic and humility, urging Fulham fans to "enjoy the brilliant moment of him". He acknowledged Wilson's continued contribution to the team through goals, assists, and hard work. The Fulham manager indicated that contract negotiations are underway between the club's board and Wilson's representatives. "He is in a happy place, and so is his family, and we will try to do our best to keep him," Silva added.
Wilson's journey with Fulham has been impressive. He initially joined Fulham on loan from Liverpool in 2021 before making the move permanent. During his loan spell, he played a key role in Fulham's Championship-winning season, earning a place in the PFA and EFL Championship Team of the Season. Since then, he has been instrumental in helping Fulham secure consecutive mid-table finishes in the Premier League.
Previously, Wilson had attracted interest from Leeds United, but Fulham blocked the move. Despite the arrival of Samuel Chukwueze, increasing competition for his position, Wilson has remained a key player in Silva's plans. Silva has consistently expressed confidence in Wilson's desire to stay at the club and sign a new contract.
Wilson's versatility as a winger or attacking midfielder has made him a valuable asset for both Fulham and the Welsh national team. He holds the distinction of being the youngest player to ever represent Wales, having made his debut at just 16 years old. In November 2025, Wilson scored a hat-trick in Wales' 7-1 victory against North Macedonia in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
As negotiations continue, Fulham fans will be hoping that Wilson's future lies at Craven Cottage, where he can continue to showcase his talent and contribute to the team's success.
