Nick Bjugstad Joins the Ranks: Welcoming the Newest Forward to the New Jersey Devils Hockey Team.

Nick Bjugstad is the newest addition to the New Jersey Devils, joining the team in a trade with the St. Louis Blues. The Devils announced the acquisition of the veteran forward on February 4, 2026, adding a significant presence to their roster. In exchange for Bjugstad, the Devils sent forward Thomas Bordeleau and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft to St. Louis. The conditional pick will be the latest of the three fourth-round picks the Devils currently possess, from Dallas, Winnipeg, or New Jersey.

Bjugstad, 33, is currently in his 14th NHL season. Before landing in New Jersey, he played 35 games with the St. Louis Blues in the current season. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward has recorded seven points (6 goals, 1 assist) and has won 134 of 262 face-offs (51.2%) while also registering 73 hits for the Blues. His height and weight make him a physically imposing player on the ice.

Throughout his NHL career, Bjugstad has accumulated 337 points (163 goals, 174 assists) in 795 games since his debut with the Florida Panthers on April 6, 2013. Drafted by the Florida Panthers in the first round (19th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Bjugstad brings a wealth of experience to the Devils.

Bjugstad's career includes stints with several teams, including the Pittsburgh Penguins (2018-2020), Minnesota Wild (2020-2022), Arizona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, Utah Hockey Club, and St. Louis Blues. He spent parts of seven seasons with the Florida Panthers (2012-13 to 2018-19), achieving a career-high of 49 points and 30 assists in the 2017-18 season.

Hailing from Blaine, Minnesota, Nicholas Jay Bjugstad was born on July 17, 1992. Known for his two-way ability, Bjugstad possesses a quick shot and solid hockey sense. His strengths lie in his size and overall game.
