Leicester snatch dramatic late draw against West Brom thanks to unfortunate Nat Phillips own goal.

Leicester City snatched a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Friday, thanks to a late own goal by Nat Phillips. The dramatic equalizer in stoppage time salvaged a point for the Foxes, who were staring down the barrel of a second league defeat of the season. The draw also extended Leicester's unbeaten run to five matches.

West Brom took the lead in the 10th minute through a brilliant solo effort from Samuel Iling-Junior, marking his first goal for the club. Iling-Junior weaved his way past several Leicester defenders before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk. West Brom's lead looked to be enough to secure them a victory and potentially propel them into the top two of the Championship table.

Leicester started the match brightly, with Jordan Ayew having an early opportunity in the third minute, but his shot went across the goal. After Iling-Junior's opener, Leicester responded with intent, with Jordan James seeing a shot deflected over the bar and Harry Winks attempting an audacious volley, but neither troubled West Brom's goalkeeper, Joshua Griffiths. Jayson Molumby forced Stolarczyk into a save from distance, and the Leicester keeper was also alert to deny Aune Heggebo.

After the interval, Griffiths was called into action to deny Jannik Vestergaard's header. West Brom had a chance to seal the victory in the 90th minute when Josh Maja fired over the bar from close range after Stolarczyk parried Jed Wallace's free-kick.

Leicester's persistence eventually paid off in the third minute of stoppage time. Abdul Fatawu sent in a hopeful ball into the box, which found Bobby Decordova-Reid, whose effort was inadvertently turned into his own net by Nat Phillips. The own goal sparked wild celebrations among the travelling Leicester fans and ensured that the Foxes would leave The Hawthorns with a point.

Leicester has now gained five points from losing positions in the current season, which is more than any other team in the Championship. Despite the late drama, Leicester's run of six straight league wins at The Hawthorns, achieved under different managers, came to an end.

The draw sees Leicester miss out on an opportunity to climb higher in the Championship table. However, they remain in a strong position as they continue their push for promotion.
