Saturday Soccer: Kane's Milestone in Munich & Palmer's Absence Shapes Upcoming Matches

Harry Kane reached a monumental milestone on Friday, scoring his 100th goal for Bayern Munich in just 104 appearances. This achievement makes him the fastest player to reach this landmark for a single club in Europe's top five leagues, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland, who both took 105 games to reach the same number of goals. Kane's historic goal contributed to Bayern Munich's dominant 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen, further solidifying their position at the top of the Bundesliga.

The England captain achieved his centurion status in the 65th minute of the match, thanks to an assist from Luis Diaz. Kane's other goal came from a penalty in the 45th minute after he was fouled by Marco Friedl. Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer scored the other two goals for Bayern.

Kane expressed his pride in achieving the milestone so quickly. His performance this season has been exceptional, with 15 goals in eight games for Bayern and one goal for England. In the game against Werder Bremen, Michael Olise twice set up Kane, but the goalkeeper denied Kane from scoring.

In other news, Chelsea will be without Cole Palmer for the next few weeks due to a persistent groin injury. Manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Palmer will be rested until the October international break to manage the injury and prevent it from worsening.

Palmer was forced off the field during the first half of Chelsea's recent match against Manchester United after his groin issue flared up. He has been dealing with this injury since Chelsea's pre-season in July. Palmer had previously missed matches against West Ham and Fulham, as well as England's World Cup qualifiers, due to the same injury.

Maresca stated that surgery is not expected, and the focus will be on managing Palmer's pain. He is expected to be fully fit after the international break.

Palmer will miss Chelsea's upcoming matches against Brighton, Liverpool, and Benfica. He is also likely to miss England's World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Latvia in October. In Palmer's absence, players like Tyrique George may step into alternative roles.

Adding to Chelsea's injury woes, Tosin Adarabioyo will also be sidelined until the international break with a calf injury. Wesley Fofana suffered a concussion, further depleting Chelsea's defensive options. Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, and Romeo Lavia are also currently out with injuries.
