Cristiano Ronaldo continues to defy expectations, netting his 949th career goal in Al Nassr's dominant 5-1 victory over Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League. The Portuguese star's stunning strike contributed to Al Nassr's unblemished start to the season, securing their fifth consecutive win and solidifying their position at the top of the league table.
The match, held at Al-Awwal Park, saw Al Nassr showcase their attacking prowess. While Ronaldo's goal was a highlight, his teammate Joao Felix stole some of the spotlight with a remarkable hat-trick. Felix opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a stunning shot to the top right corner from nearly 30 yards out.
Al Fateh, struggling at the bottom of the table, managed to equalize in the 54th minute through Sofiane Bendebka. However, their hopes of an upset were quickly dashed. A minute before his goal, Ronaldo uncharacteristically missed a penalty, much to the surprise of the home crowd. However, he swiftly redeemed himself. Receiving a pass from Sadio Mané, Ronaldo skillfully maneuvered past a defender with his signature stepovers before unleashing a right-footed shot from outside the box that soared into the top corner of the net. This incredible goal, scored in the 60th minute, not only restored Al Nassr's lead but also marked Ronaldo's 949th career goal and his 800th in club football.
Al Nassr continued to press their advantage, with Felix scoring his second goal after a pass from Ronaldo. Kingsley Coman further extended the lead in the 75th minute, assisted by Angelo. Felix completed his hat-trick shortly after, firing into an empty net after Sadio Mane's initial attempt was cleared off the line.
This victory further cemented Al Nassr's dominance in the Saudi Pro League. They have now won their first five matches of a league campaign for the third time in their history, a feat they also accomplished in the 2014-15 and 2018-19 seasons, on both of which they won the league title. In contrast, Al Fateh's struggles continue, as they remain near the bottom of the table with only one point.
Ronaldo's goal was his 800th in club football, achieved across five different clubs: Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr. He is now just 51 goals away from reaching his ambitious goal of 1,000 career goals.
The win showcased Al Nassr's potent attack and their determination to maintain their position at the top of the Saudi Pro League. Al Nassr's next challenge is against Goa in the AFC Cup.
