Day 2 of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Colombo is underway, with Sri Lanka looking to build a substantial lead after a strong showing with the ball. Bangladesh will be aiming to add crucial runs to their overnight score and put pressure on the Sri Lankan batting lineup.

On the first day, Sri Lankan bowlers made significant inroads into the Bangladesh batting order, leaving them struggling at 220 for 8 at the end of play. Asitha Fernando and Sonal Dinusha each took three wickets, dismantling Bangladesh's top and middle order.

Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain resumed the Bangladesh innings on Day 2. Taijul Islam played a useful inning, helping Bangladesh reach close to 250 before Sonal Dinusha dismissed him. Eventually, Bangladesh were bowled out for 247, with Asitha Fernando claiming his third wicket by dismissing Ebadot Hossain.

In response, Sri Lanka started strongly, with openers Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udara putting together an impressive partnership. By lunch, Sri Lanka had reached 83/0, trailing by 164 runs, with both openers looking comfortable at the crease. Pathum Nissanka was nearing his half-century, and Lahiru Udara provided solid support.

The afternoon session saw Sri Lanka continue to dominate. Pathum Nissanka continued his impressive form, approaching a century, while Dinesh Chandimal provided valuable support. The Sri Lankan batsmen found the Colombo pitch conducive to batting, making it difficult for the Bangladesh bowlers to create opportunities.

Sri Lanka surpassed the 100-run mark without losing a wicket, putting immense pressure on Bangladesh. The bowlers struggled to find any assistance from the pitch, and the Sri Lankan batsmen capitalized on loose deliveries.

As the day progressed, Sri Lanka moved into a dominant position. At tea Sri Lanka were 142/1, with Pathum Nissanka closing in on his century. Sri Lanka are currently in a strong position and will try to build a big lead to bat Bangladesh out of the game.
