In a display of sheer power and dominance, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has etched his name in cricketing folklore with a breathtaking 52-ball century against England U-19 in the 4th Youth ODI at Worcester. The young Indian batting prodigy, drawing comparisons to a 'Yuvraj Singh on steroids', left the English bowlers shell-shocked as he blazed his way to a record-shattering hundred, laced with seven sixes and ten boundaries.

Suryavanshi's incredible feat is a continuation of his meteoric rise in the world of cricket. In the previous match of the series, the dashing southpaw had showcased his aggressive intent with a scintillating 86 off just 31 deliveries, propelling India U-19 to a four-wicket victory over their English counterparts. In the rain-affected 40-over match, England had posted a competitive total of 268 for six, built around captain Thomas Rew's unbeaten 76 off 44 balls. However, Suryavanshi stole the show with a blistering 20-ball fifty, providing India with a flying start to their chase.

While he fell short of a century in that game, Suryavanshi ensured he reached the milestone in the next outing, leaving no doubt about his immense talent and potential. His 20-ball half-century in the previous match was only surpassed by Rishabh Pant among Indian batters in youth ODIs, who had smashed an 18-ball fifty against Nepal U-19 in 2016. Suryavanshi's nine sixes in that innings also broke the Indian record in all youth ODIs, eclipsing the previous joint record of eight maximums each held by Raj Angad Bawa and Mandeep Singh.

Notably, 78 of his runs came from boundaries, accounting for a staggering 90.69 percent of his total score. Only three other Indians – Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, and Manan Vohra – have recorded a higher percentage of runs in boundaries in a Youth ODI innings for India.

Suryavanshi first gained widespread recognition in the IPL 2025, where he smashed a 35-ball century, the fastest by an Indian in the history of the league. His recent exploits against England U-19 have further solidified his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.
