During the recent Test match between India and England at Edgbaston, Ravindra Jadeja engaged in a lighthearted exchange with umpire Chris Gaffaney, showcasing his playful personality on the field. This wasn't the first instance of their camaraderie during the series, as they had previously shared a humorous moment during the Headingley Test.

The incident occurred on day four of the Edgbaston Test as Gaffaney was resetting the bails. Jadeja approached the umpire, and their conversation clearly struck a chord with the Indian all-rounder, who playfully poked Gaffaney in the ribs while both shared smiles. The stump mics captured Jadeja humorously saying, "Huh! I'm cheating?", though the exact context of their exchange remains unclear.

Earlier in the series, during the first Test at Leeds, Jadeja and Gaffaney were involved in another memorable incident. Throughout England's chase, the Indian team repeatedly expressed concerns about the ball's condition, believing it had lost its shape. Indian fielders, including KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Shardul Thakur, made multiple appeals to umpires Gaffaney and Paul Reiffel for a replacement ball. They felt a softer ball would restrict its movement. However, the umpires initially denied these requests as the ball consistently passed the gauge test.

After numerous attempts, the umpires finally agreed to change the ball in the 28th over, a decision that was met with visible celebration from the Indian players. Jadeja, in particular, turned towards Gaffaney with a mischievous look and gave a subtle fist pump, as if celebrating a small victory. He appeared to playfully "sledge" the umpire, prompting chuckles from viewers and commentators. This amusing incident quickly gained traction on social media, with fans appreciating Jadeja's humor and ability to maintain a light atmosphere even during high-pressure situations.

Notably, Rishabh Pant was heard on the stump mic saying, "Naya ball ka alag feel hai" ("The new ball has a different feel"). It's important to note that the replacement ball isn't actually new but is meant to be of a similar condition to the previous one.

Jadeja's actions in Leeds stood in contrast to an earlier incident involving Rishabh Pant, who was penalized for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct after throwing the ball in frustration when a ball change request was denied. Jadeja's celebration, however, was not seen as disrespectful and was unlikely to result in any disciplinary action.
