Akash Deep's sister, Jyoti, was taken by surprise when her brother revealed her ongoing battle with cancer on live television following his outstanding performance in the second Test against England. Akash Deep dedicated his match-winning performance to his sister, a gesture that deeply moved her.

Akash Deep played a pivotal role in India's significant 336-run victory over England at Edgbaston, securing 10 wickets in the match. After the game, in a conversation with Cheteshwar Pujara, he dedicated his performance to his sister. He shared that his sister had been battling cancer for the last two months and that he wanted to see a smile on her face. He said that thoughts of his sister crossed his mind every time he had the ball in his hand.

Jyoti revealed that she was not aware that Akash would share her health condition publicly. She was surprised to see her brother talk about the topic on Live TV. In an interview, she expressed that she was not ready to talk about it publicly. However, she was deeply touched by his emotional dedication, recognizing it as a testament to his love for her and their family. She acknowledged the difficulty of their home situation and was incredibly proud of his ability to perform so well despite these challenges.

Despite her health challenges, Jyoti had encouraged Akash to focus on his cricket career. Before the England tour, she met him at the airport and told him that she was fine and he should focus on doing well for the country. She is currently in the third stage of cancer and anticipates needing six more months of treatment. According to her doctor, they will reassess the situation after that.

Jyoti shared that Akash's achievements bring joy to their family during these trying times. She is always happy when Akash takes wickets. She recounted a time during the Indian Premier League (IPL) when she was hospitalized for treatment, and Akash, despite his demanding schedule with the Lucknow Super Giants, made time to visit her. She said that he would come to meet her either before or after the matches.

Akash Deep often calls home before and after matches to share his experiences with his family. After India's historic win at Edgbaston, Jyoti spoke with Akash via video call. He reassured her, saying, "Don't worry, the whole country is with us". He also confessed that he could not hold it in anymore and had been trying to, but he just could not stop himself.

Akash Deep's dedication to his family is immense. His sister highlighted that everything he does is for his sisters and his family. Akash Deep has played eight Test matches and taken 25 wickets so far. His match-winning performance and heartfelt dedication to his sister have resonated with fans and demonstrated his commitment to both his family and his sport.
