The 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was a momentous occasion, not only for the thrilling race that unfolded but also for the unique trophies presented to the podium finishers. In a Formula 1 first, the top three drivers and the winning constructor were awarded trophies made entirely of LEGO bricks. This initiative was a collaboration between LEGO and Formula 1 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first World Championship Grand Prix, which was held at Silverstone in 1950.

Lando Norris, who claimed his first British Grand Prix victory, received a gold-adorned LEGO trophy. Oscar Piastri, finished second after a controversial penalty, and Nico Hulkenberg, who took third position, were presented with white LEGO trophies featuring red and blue detailing, respectively. The winning constructor also received a special dark blue and gold LEGO trophy.

These brick-built trophies were designed by LEGO designer Samuel Liltorp Johnson in Billund, Denmark. A team of seven builders spent over 210 hours constructing the trophies. The first-place and constructor's trophies each comprised 2,717 LEGO elements and weighed over 2 kg, standing at 59 cm tall. The second and third-place trophies were slightly smaller, measuring 43 cm in height. To ensure the trophies could withstand the celebratory champagne showers and podium excitement, they were carefully glued together.

Julia Goldin, LEGO’s chief product and marketing officer, explained that the aim was to create something truly unique to celebrate the anniversary and inspire builders worldwide. Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle added that the LEGO trophies were a fitting way to make the 75th-anniversary celebrations unique, given the venue's iconic status in Formula 1 history.

The LEGO trophies are inspired by the design of the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) golden British Grand Prix trophy. The creation of these trophies is part of a multi-year partnership between LEGO and Formula 1, intending to broaden the sport's appeal to families through engaging fan experiences. This collaboration has already seen LEGO create ten LEGO cars for the pre-race parade, which became popular after a few crashes.
