Novak Djokovic has expressed his appreciation for Virat Kohli's presence and support during his recent Wimbledon victory against Alex de Minaur. The Indian cricket star, along with his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, was seen in the stands at Centre Court, witnessing Djokovic's comeback win.

Djokovic acknowledged Kohli's support after the match, highlighting their growing friendship. He stated that it was a "privilege and an honour" to hear Kohli speak highly of him. The tennis legend also noted that they have been in touch for a few years, although they had not had the opportunity to meet in person until now.

Kohli, equally thrilled, shared a heartfelt message for Djokovic on Instagram, celebrating their camaraderie and the exciting match. He lauded Djokovic's performance, referring to him as a "gladiator". "What a match. It was business as usual for the gladiator. @djokernole," Kohli wrote on Instagram Stories.

The presence of Kohli and Sharma added to the star-studded atmosphere at Wimbledon, with other notable figures like Roger Federer, Joe Root, and James Anderson also in attendance. Federer's presence was particularly significant, as Djokovic paid homage to the eight-time Wimbledon champion during his on-court interview. "It's great to have Roger here, a huge champion and someone I admired and respected a lot," Djokovic said. He even jokingly added, "Sometimes, I wish I had a serve and volley and a nice touch from the gentleman who is standing right there. That would help".

Djokovic's path to victory against De Minaur was not easy. He started slowly, losing the first set 1-6. However, he rallied to win the next three sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, demonstrating his resilience and determination. Djokovic admitted that he struggled initially, unable to find solutions against De Minaur's pace and the windy conditions. However, he managed to reset himself and gradually take control of the match.

With his win against De Minaur, Djokovic advanced to his 16th Wimbledon quarter-final. He is now within four victories of equalling Roger Federer's record of 105 match wins at the event. Djokovic will face Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-finals as he continues his quest to match Federer's record of eight Wimbledon men's singles titles.

The growing bond between Djokovic and Kohli is a testament to their mutual respect and admiration. Their friendship began through Instagram, with Kohli revealing that he was surprised to receive a message from Djokovic. Since then, they have exchanged messages, celebrating each other's achievements. Djokovic has also expressed his desire to improve his cricket skills before visiting India.

Djokovic's recent victory also marked his 101st singles win at Wimbledon. He also secured his 100th win at Wimbledon by defeating Miomir Kecmanović in the third round. He is now only the third player in history to reach this milestone, joining Roger Federer and Martina Navratilova.
