Amidst swirling transfer rumors surrounding their star striker Alexander Isak, Newcastle United are proactively sketching up contingency measures to ensure they remain competitive in the upcoming season. Isak, who scored 27 goals last season, has reportedly expressed his desire to explore other options, with Liverpool showing strong interest.

Manager Eddie Howe has acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Isak's future, stating that while he hopes the Swedish international will stay, the club must be prepared for all eventualities. Isak has reportedly informed Newcastle that he wants to explore his options this summer and is not part of the Magpies squad for their pre-season tour of Singapore.

Newcastle have reportedly identified a shortlist of potential replacements, including Nicolas Jackson, Ollie Watkins, Yoane Wissa, and Benjamin Sesko. The club has already made a bid for Wissa, which was rejected by Brentford. Wissa is reportedly refusing to train with Brentford and believes the club has broken a pact by not allowing him to leave. Despite Brentford's hardline stance, Newcastle are reportedly determined to sign Wissa. However, recent reports suggest that Newcastle are unlikely to sign Wissa and are prepared to move on to other targets.

Benjamin Sesko is another player on Newcastle's radar. Newcastle have reportedly offered Sesko a contract until 2030. Sesko scored 21 goals for Leipzig in the 2024-25 season. However, a move for Sesko would be "highly challenging from a financial perspective".

Other reports suggest that Newcastle are also considering Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Jackson has also been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United.

Newcastle's interest in finding a new striker comes as contract talks with Isak have stalled. It has been claimed that Isak's representatives believe his talents are worth £300,000-a-week, a wage demand that might be difficult to match. Alexander Isak has reportedly been offered a 'staggering' £600,000-a-week tax-free deal by Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Howe has stated that the club is in a strong financial position and is determined to be successful and ambitious. He added that the club needs to add to the squad and continue to improve.

The situation remains fluid, and Newcastle are carefully considering their options. The club is determined to make the right decisions to move the club forward.
