The World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 match between Australia Champions and Pakistan Champions took an unexpected turn on July 29, 2025, leaving commentators and fans alike in disbelief. What was anticipated to be a competitive clash ended in a dramatic and early finish, thanks to an over of unprecedented inaccuracy.

Australia Champions, captained by Brett Lee, suffered a batting collapse, managing a meager 74 runs in just 11.5 overs. Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal dismantled the Aussie batting lineup, claiming 6 wickets for 16 runs and earning the Player of the Match award. Ben Dunk's 26 runs off 14 balls was the only score of significance for Australia.

Pakistan Champions started their chase steadily, scoring 5 runs in the first over, which was bowled by Brett Lee. However, the game's defining moment arrived in the eighth over when John Hastings was brought into the attack with Pakistan at 55/0, needing just 20 more runs to win. Hastings, normally known for his disciplined pace bowling, struggled severely with his accuracy.

Hastings' over was nothing short of chaotic. He began with five consecutive wides, unable to find his line. After two legal deliveries, he bowled a no-ball, followed by another wide. The over concluded as it started, with another five wides. In total, the over consisted of 18 deliveries, with 12 wides and a no-ball, but only five legitimate balls were bowled. Pakistan reached their target of 75 in that very over, winning by 10 wickets with 73 balls to spare. Sharjeel Khan (32) and Sohaib Maqsood (28) remained unbeaten.

The shocking over sparked reactions on social media, with many expressing their astonishment at the display. The over tested the patience of the Pakistani batters, who were denied the chance to hit the winning runs themselves.

Brett Lee, a former international cricketer recognized as one of the fastest bowlers in the world, could only watch in shock as the events unfolded. The veteran's experience and leadership were not enough to prevent the bizarre collapse.

John Hastings' performance served as a stark reminder of the pressures even seasoned professionals face in high-stakes tournaments. While the match will be remembered for Pakistan's dominant victory, it will be equally remembered for the over that included 12 wides and ended the game prematurely.
