Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of securing the signature of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with multiple sources indicating that the clubs have reached an agreement in principle. The deal, said to be worth an initial £66.3 million (€76.5m) plus £8.7 million (€8.5m) in potential add-ons, will see the 22-year-old Slovenian international move to Old Trafford on a five-year contract.

Sesko had been a target for several clubs, including Newcastle United, but he has reportedly favored a move to Manchester United. While Newcastle offered a higher financial package to RB Leipzig, Sesko's preference to join the Red Devils is believed to have been a decisive factor. United are confident that Sesko wants to play for them.

The striker is now expected to travel to Manchester to undergo a medical before the transfer is finalized. Some reports suggest he is due in Manchester on Thursday.

Sesko's arrival would mark a significant boost to Manchester United's attacking options, following what was a disappointing Premier League campaign last season. The team finished 15th and struggled to score goals. He is set to become the fourth signing of the summer for United, joining Matheus Cunha, Diego León and Bryan Mbeumo.

Last season, Sesko scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig. Across all competitions, he scored 21 goals.

Rio Ferdinand has commented on the transfer, stating that Sesko will be capable of making his mark at Man United but will need to start strong.

The acquisition of Sesko would bring Manchester United's spending for the summer to over £214 million. It is also speculated that with Sesko's arrival, Rasmus Hojlund may be transferred, with potential interest from Serie A clubs. There were also reports that Jadon Sancho could be part of the deal. However, the deal that United is offering doesn't seem to involve any players; it seems to be just money.

With personal terms reportedly agreed upon, and an agreement in place between the two clubs, all that remains is for Sesko to complete his medical, and sign the contract.
