The 2025 FA Community Shield match between Premier League champions Liverpool and FA Cup winners Crystal Palace takes place on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Wembley Stadium in London. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. BST.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has a few injury concerns heading into the match. Joe Gomez is sidelined with a minor injury sustained on tour, but is nearing a comeback. Conor Bradley is also doubtful, with Slot stating it would be "tight" for him to return in time for the game. Alexis Mac Allister is in contention but not yet ready to play a full 90 minutes.

Alisson Becker has rejoined the squad after departing the club’s pre-season tour for personal reasons. Virgil van Dijk is also back in training after recovering from an illness that kept him out of Monday's friendly double-header against Athletic Club. Ryan Gravenberch is available to play despite a suspension looming for a sending-off against Crystal Palace at the end of last season; the suspension will be served in the Premier League match against Bournemouth.

Liverpool have made several new signings this summer, including Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Some of these new faces are expected to feature in the starting XI. Mamardashvili could start in goal, while Frimpong and Kerkez are likely to take the full-back positions. Wirtz is poised to start as the No. 10, and Ekitike may lead the line as the central striker.

Crystal Palace Team News

Crystal Palace will be without Cheick Doucoure, Matheus Franca, Caleb Kporha, and Eddie Nketiah for the Community Shield clash. However, Adam Wharton and Marc Guehi have returned from setbacks and are ready to start. Crystal Palace have managed to retain Eberechi Eze despite interest from other clubs.

Crystal Palace have made a few additions to their squad this summer. Walter Benitez has joined on a free transfer from PSV to compete with Dean Henderson for the goalkeeper position. Borna Sosa has also been signed from Ajax for a reported fee of £3 million. The club has seen some departures as well, including Jeffrey Schlupp.

What to Expect

Arne Slot acknowledged the threat Crystal Palace poses, highlighting their counter-attacks, set-pieces, and long balls to Jean-Philippe Mateta. He also recognized the individual quality of their forwards. Liverpool will need to be wary of Crystal Palace's transition threat. Oliver Glasner, the Crystal Palace boss, noted that the majority of players who played significant minutes last season are still with the team and are at a higher level compared to last season.

Liverpool's defense has been somewhat shaky in pre-season, and Crystal Palace will be looking to exploit any weaknesses, particularly from set-pieces. Crystal Palace are known for soaking up pressure and launching quick counter-attacks. However, Liverpool's new signings are expected to add a new dimension to their attack.
