Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially engaged after nearly a decade of dating. The Argentinian-Spanish model and businesswoman shared the news on her Instagram account on Monday afternoon, displaying a photo of her hand with a massive diamond ring. Her caption, translated from Spanish, read "Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives".
The couple has been together since 2016, having met when Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. Since then, their relationship has spanned across Spain, Italy, England and now Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al Nassr.
The engagement ring is estimated to be worth over $1 million, featuring a striking oval-cut diamond set on a sleek band. Jewelry experts estimate the stone to weigh between 10 and 15 carats. Some reports indicate the diamond may even be over 20 carats.
Ronaldo, who is 40 years old, and Rodríguez, 31, share two children together and co-star in the Netflix reality show "I Am Georgina". Rodríguez also considers Ronaldo's other children as her own. In the show, Rodríguez opened up about the early days of their relationship. She recounted how Ronaldo would pick her up from her job as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in his luxury cars. Ronaldo also stated he was waiting for "that click" to propose, saying in March 2025, "It could be in a year, or it could be in six months or it could be in a month. I'm 1,000 percent sure that [an engagement will] happen".
In early 2017, the couple made their relationship public at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich. They became Instagram official that May. In June 2017, they announced they were expecting twins via surrogate, and in November 2017, their daughter Alana Martina was born. In April 2022, the couple tragically announced the death of their newborn son.
