Utah Mammoth forwards Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley have been named to the U.S. Men's Olympic Orientation Camp roster. USA Hockey released the list of 44 players invited to the camp on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The camp is in preparation for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, marking the return of NHL players to the Olympic Games after 12 years.
Keller is coming off a career-high 90-point season and his selection to the orientation camp roster comes as no surprise. He ranked 11th in the NHL in points last season, and third among American players. In May, he captained Team USA to a gold medal at the World Championship, contributing 10 points in 10 games. He was also named captain of Utah ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Cooley also had a successful 2024-25 season with Utah and was part of the gold-winning World Championship team.
The Olympic Orientation Camp will be held in Plymouth, Michigan, on August 26 and 27. According to USA Hockey, the camp is primarily for administrative and team-building purposes and will not include any on-ice activities or public access.
While the orientation camp roster is non-binding, it offers a strong indication of the players being considered for the final Olympic roster. The final roster will consist of a maximum of 25 players: 22 skaters and three goalies. All countries participating in the men's hockey tournament were required to lock in six players to their roster earlier this summer. For the U.S., those players are Jack Eichel, Quinn Hughes, Auston Matthews, Charlie McAvoy, Brady Tkachuk, and Matthew Tkachuk. Matthew Tkachuk will not be attending the orientation camp due to injuries sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off.
The U.S. Men's Olympic team will compete in Group C against Germany, Latvia, and Denmark. Their first game is scheduled for February 11 against Latvia. The gold medal game will be played on February 22.
The U.S. team is aiming to win its first Olympic gold medal since 1980. The last time NHL players participated in the Olympics was in 2014 in Sochi, where Team USA finished fourth.
The orientation camp roster includes 23 players who were part of the U.S. Men's National Team for the 4 Nations Face-Off last February, with the exception of Matthew Tkachuk. There are also three #1 overall NHL draft picks (Patrick Kane, Auston Matthews, and Jack Hughes) and one #2 overall pick (Jack Eichel) among the 44 players invited.
Bill Guerin, general manager of the Minnesota Wild, is the general manager of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team, and Mike Sullivan, head coach of the New York Rangers, will serve as head coach.
The final 25-man roster is expected to be announced in early January.
