Charlie Woods, the 16-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, made a hole-in-one at the Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday. This marks his second recorded ace in the past year.
The impressive shot occurred on the par-3 third hole of the Stadium Course, which was playing at 177 yards. Woods started his final round on the back nine and was even par through 11 holes when he stepped up to the tee. He hit the ball with confidence, holding his pose as his playing partner noted, "That's really good". The crowd's reaction confirmed the ace. Woods, seemingly unfazed, exchanged high-fives with his playing partners.
This isn't Charlie's first hole-in-one; he made his first at the PNC Championship in December 2024 while playing alongside his father. At that time, he used a 7-iron to ace the 176-yard fourth hole at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
While Woods made headlines with his ace, his overall performance in the Junior Players Championship didn't land him at the top of the leaderboard. He carded an even-par 72 on Sunday to tie for 31st in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) event. His total score for the tournament was 7-over par, 16 shots behind the winner, Miles Russell. Russell, another 16-year-old, finished at 8-under for the week. Woods has had a strong junior season, though, qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur in July and finishing tied for ninth at the Junior PGA Championship this month.
The Junior Players Championship is a prestigious junior tournament that attracts top young golfers. This year's event, held from August 28-31, featured 78 boys aged 12-19. The tournament is played at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, the same course where Tiger Woods has won The Players Championship twice.
Notably, Charlie Woods wasn't the only player to record a hole-in-one during the final round. Guus Lafeber of the Netherlands also had an ace on the par-3 eighth hole. He finished the tournament tied for 19th.
Charlie is still far from matching his father's hole-in-one record; Tiger Woods has 20 career aces. The younger Woods' impressive shot adds to the growing excitement surrounding his burgeoning golf career.
