The Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) academy has launched an aftercare program called 'Beyond the Pitch' for released players. This initiative aims to support young footballers whose journey with the academy concludes, ensuring their holistic development and well-being beyond their time on the field.

RFYC, established in May 2015, has a vision of identifying talented young footballers and providing them with an environment of excellence to unlock their potential both on and off the pitch. The academy offers fully funded scholarships to young talents from across the country. RFYC understands that not every player graduating from the academy will forge a professional career in the sport. With that in mind, the academy takes its duty of care very seriously and focuses on imparting life skills and education to each child.

The 'Beyond the Pitch' program highlights RFYC's commitment to the holistic development of its scholars. Recognizing that a career in professional football is not guaranteed for every young player, the program aims to equip released players with the tools and support they need to succeed in other areas of life. This includes educational opportunities, vocational training, and mentorship programs designed to help them transition into new careers or pursue further education.

This initiative reflects a growing awareness within the football community of the importance of supporting young players beyond their playing careers. Many young athletes dedicate years to the sport, often sacrificing other opportunities in the pursuit of their footballing dreams. When they are released from academies, they can face significant challenges in readjusting to life outside of football. Programs like 'Beyond the Pitch' provide a crucial safety net, helping these young people to develop new skills, build confidence, and find fulfilling pathways forward.

RFYC was previously recognized by the All India Football Federation as the nation's first and only 5 Star rated residential academy. Currently, the Academy holds an Elite 3 Star rating under the Federation's new accreditation system. RFYC has also been awarded a 2 Star rating by the Asian Football Confederation under their 'Elite Youth Scheme', giving the academy recognition on a continental level. Based in Navi Mumbai, RFYC hosts 90 children from around the country playing across five age groups (U14, U15, U16, U17, & U19).
