Following Daniel Levy's departure as Tottenham Hotspur's Executive Chairman after nearly 25 years, former Spurs captain Harry Kane has shared his reaction to the news. Levy's exit, announced last week, marks the end of an era for the North London club and Kane, who now plays for Bayern Munich, expressed his surprise at the departure.

Kane acknowledged Levy's significant contributions to Tottenham, highlighting the transformation of the club both on and off the pitch during his tenure. He credited Levy as a "fantastic chairman" and recognized the immense change that occurred under his leadership, noting the development of a world-class stadium and training ground. Kane stated, "Considering where the club was and where it is now, I think it's been a big change, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well".

Despite acknowledging Levy's achievements, Kane's relationship with the former chairman was complex, particularly concerning Kane's transfer saga. In the summer of 2021, Kane's attempt to leave Tottenham for Manchester City was famously thwarted by Levy, who is known as a tough negotiator. Ultimately, Kane secured a move to Bayern Munich in 2023.

Addressing Levy's departure, Kane admitted his surprise, stating, "Obviously, it's a bit of a surprise, if I'm honest. I didn't expect it, didn't see that coming". He added, "Obviously I don't know too much about why or what happened. All I can say is I wish Daniel all the best in whatever's next for him".

Kane, who spent his entire Tottenham career under Levy's leadership, emphasized the relationship they had built over the years. "We obviously built a relationship over the time we had together. I'm sure at some stage we'll catch up," Kane remarked.

Looking ahead, Kane acknowledged that Levy's exit signifies a new chapter for Tottenham. "Overall for Tottenham, it's a new chapter they're trying to create now," he said. The club has already made several senior appointments as part of its succession planning, including Vinai Venkatesham as CEO, Thomas Frank as men's head coach, and Peter Charrington as Non-Executive Chairman. These changes reflect the club's ambition to ensure long-term sporting success.

Vinai Venkatesham has also paid tribute to Levy, acknowledging his "extraordinary" work at Tottenham and emphasizing that it is "business as usual" following his departure. Venkatesham highlighted Levy's role in transforming the club, particularly the development of the stadium and training facilities.

Levy's departure was reportedly driven by the owners, the Lewis family, who desired a more modern boardroom structure. They sought to move away from a dominant single figure like Levy. Despite the change in leadership, Venkatesham has assured that the Lewis family remains committed to Tottenham.
