Cristiano Ronaldo propelled Portugal into the Nations League final with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Germany in their semi-final clash held on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The win marks a significant moment for Portugal, securing their place in the final and marking their first victory against Germany in 25 years.

The match was a tense affair, with both sides displaying attacking intent from the start. The first half ended goalless as both teams struggled to convert their chances. Germany broke the deadlock early in the second half when Florian Wirtz headed in a cross from Kimmich in the 48th minute.

Portugal responded with tactical substitutions that proved pivotal. Coach Roberto Martinez brought on Vitinha, Francisco Conceição, and Semedo, who injected fresh energy and dynamism into the team. Conceição made an immediate impact, scoring a stunning equalizer in the 63rd minute with a brilliant curler. Just five minutes later, Nuno Mendes assisted Cristiano Ronaldo, who tapped the ball in from close range, giving Portugal the lead.

Ronaldo's goal was his 137th international goal. He also became the oldest player to score against Germany, overcoming a personal hurdle, having lost all five of his previous encounters against the German side.

Germany fought hard to find an equalizer, but Portugal's defense held firm, with goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen making crucial saves to keep the scoreline at 2-1. Ultimately, Portugal secured the win, booking their place in the Nations League final.

Portugal will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Spain and France in the final on June 8. They aim to become the first team to win the UEFA Nations League twice, having won the inaugural edition in 2019.
