Bukayo Saka has revealed that the most challenging injury setback of his career has ultimately provided him with a newfound sense of balance in life. The Arsenal winger, who is now 23, suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Crystal Palace in December 2024. The injury sidelined him for over three months, keeping him out of action until April 2025. Initially, Saka admitted to harboring fears that he might not return to his previous form.

The unexpected time away from the demanding schedule of professional football allowed him to gain a broader perspective. He emphasized that the break enabled him to dedicate more time to his family and appreciate the simple things around his home, things he often overlooked when immersed in the constant cycle of playing. This shift in focus proved beneficial for his mental well-being.

Saka also found solace in a new companion, a cockapoo puppy named Tucker. The arrival of Tucker during his injury period provided a welcome distraction and a new focus. While managing a puppy while recovering from a hamstring injury presented its challenges, Saka found the experience to be positive and entertaining.

Furthermore, Saka delved into reading, with one book in particular, "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle, having a profound impact. The book, recommended by Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta, centers on the importance of living in the present moment, avoiding dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Saka found the book's message resonated with him, encouraging him to focus on what is necessary in the present.

Saka's openness about his mental health is a significant step in breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health, especially for athletes. In a previous interview, Saka spoke about the importance of having a strong support network, including family and friends, and taking breaks from the game to recharge.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, has acknowledged Saka's importance to the team, noting the positive impact of his return. Arteta highlighted that Saka had missed being around the team, playing, training, and competing.

Saka is eager to contribute to England's success. Despite some criticism of England's recent performances, Saka remains confident in the team's ability to make an impact at the upcoming World Cup. He believes the team has a good balance of world-class players, talented individuals, and experienced campaigners.

Looking ahead, Saka is excited about the future and the potential of Arsenal's younger players. He expressed his enthusiasm for Ethan Nwaneri, who is currently competing with the England under-21 team, and believes that these young players will contribute to Arsenal's strength in the coming seasons.
