Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, marking their fourth signing in a flurry of activity this week. The transfer, completed on June 11, 2025, sees the Netherlands international joining the Premier League champions on a five-year deal. This acquisition pushes Manchester City's spending past the £100 million mark in a clear statement of intent for the upcoming season, and the Club World Cup.

Reijnders, a 26-year-old midfielder, arrives from AC Milan, where he spent the last two seasons. He has garnered a reputation as an energetic and versatile player, comfortable in both attacking and defensive midfield roles. His performances in Serie A earned him the title of Serie A's Best Midfielder in 2024/25, a season where he scored 15 goals in 54 appearances, more than doubling his previous best.

"I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City," Reijnders said upon joining. "City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and outstanding facilities. Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with a lot more success in the coming years."

Director of Football Hugo Viana expressed his excitement about Reijnders' arrival, stating, "Tijjani adds extra energy, composure and creativity to our midfield and working with Pep and our coaches will only see him go from strength to strength."

Reijnders' transfer fee is reported to be around £46.3 million. His arrival follows the signings of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves for £33 million, Rayan Cherki from Lyon, and Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea on a free transfer. These acquisitions demonstrate City's ambition to rebuild and reinforce their squad after relinquishing their Premier League title last season.

The flurry of activity also hints at potential departures from the Etihad Stadium. Kyle Walker has been linked with a move away, and Jack Grealish's future at the club is also uncertain. These potential exits could pave the way for new signings and a reshaped squad under Guardiola.

Manchester City's early spending spree is particularly notable considering the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) that are impacting other clubs. City's financial power allows them to invest heavily in new talent, aiming to reclaim their dominance in English football and compete for major trophies, including the Club World Cup.

With Reijnders already expressing his eagerness to play in the Premier League and contribute to City's success, the club's fans will be keen to see him in action. His versatility, energy, and proven ability in Serie A make him an exciting addition to Guardiola's squad, as Manchester City aim to usher in a new era of success.
