In a Concacaf Gold Cup 2025 Group C match held at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, Jordan Leborgne's goal offered a glimmer of hope for Guadeloupe against Panama, although it ultimately wasn't enough to overcome Panama's strong lead. The match took place on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Panama, the reigning Gold Cup runners-up, demonstrated their ambition to return to the championship match with an assertive performance. Christian Martinez set the tone early, scoring in the 7th minute to give Panama a dream start. Ismael Diaz further solidified Panama's advantage with goals in the 13th and 17th minutes, putting Guadeloupe under significant pressure. Eduardo Guerrero added another goal in the 22nd minute, converting a penalty to extend Panama's lead to 4-0.

Despite the daunting deficit, Guadeloupe showed resilience. Jordan Leborgne found the net in the 29th minute, assisted by Thierry Ambrose, to pull one back for his team. This goal not only reduced Panama's lead but also injected some much-needed energy into the Guadeloupe side.

The second half saw Guadeloupe emerge with renewed focus, but they were unable to capitalize on their efforts to mount a significant comeback. Ultimately, Panama maintained their control, securing a 4-1 victory.

This marked the third encounter between Panama and Guadeloupe in the Concacaf Gold Cup. Their head-to-head record is now two wins for Panama and one for Guadeloupe. Their first match was on July 5, 2009, in the Group C play at the Oakland Coliseum, where Guadeloupe won 2-1. Their second match was on June 7, 2011, in Group C at Ford Field in Detroit, where Panama edged out a 3-2 win.

Jordan Leborgne, born on September 29, 1995, in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Championnat National club Quevilly-Rouen and the Guadeloupe national team. He debuted for Guadeloupe on March 23, 2022, in a friendly match against Cape Verde.

The match was managed by Thomas Christiansen for Panama, who also led the team to a runner-up finish in the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League. Jocelyn Angloma managed Guadeloupe for the third consecutive edition; he was a key member of the 2007 squad that reached the Gold Cup Semifinals.
