Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has boldly stated his ambition for the club to win the Premier League title by 2028, coinciding with the club's 150th anniversary. This declaration comes despite the team's recent struggles and a challenging 2024/25 season, where they finished in a disappointing 15th place – their worst top-flight result since 1973-74.

Berrada's vision, dubbed "Project 150," aims to set specific targets within a defined timeframe to focus the club's efforts and energy. He expressed his conviction that winning the Premier League by 2028 is achievable, emphasizing the importance of aiming high and striving to maximize the club's potential. This ambition extends to the Women's Super League (WSL), with Berrada hoping for a double title celebration in 2028.

Acknowledging the current gap between Manchester United and the league's top contenders, Berrada highlighted the need to build a team capable of competing for the title. He believes that the next two to three summer transfer windows will be crucial in acquiring the necessary talent and strengthening the squad. The recent addition of Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million signals the club's intent to invest in key areas, with reports suggesting further acquisitions are being targeted.

While the absence of European football in the upcoming 2025/26 season presents a challenge, it also offers an opportunity for new manager Ruben Amorim to concentrate on the Premier League and domestic cup competitions. Amorim, who took over after a disappointing start to the season, faces the task of revitalizing the team and implementing his vision.

Berrada's confidence is echoed by minority owner Jim Ratcliffe, who has instilled a "must-win" mentality within the club. Despite finishing the 2024/25 season far from the top four and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham, Berrada remains optimistic about the future. He acknowledges the difficulty of the task, particularly with dominant teams like Liverpool and Manchester City setting a high standard, but believes that with strategic planning and investment, Manchester United can return to their former glory.

The challenge is significant. The team's statistics from the 2023/24 Premier League season reveal areas needing improvement, including shots conceded per game. Bookmakers' odds currently place Manchester United as outsiders for the title in the upcoming season, highlighting the scale of the task ahead.

However, Berrada's unwavering belief, coupled with potential squad improvements and a renewed focus under Amorim, offers a glimmer of hope for Manchester United fans. Achieving the goal of winning the Premier League by 2028 would not only mark a significant milestone in the club's history but also signal their return to the pinnacle of English football.
