The Indian men's hockey team ended their FIH Pro League campaign on a positive note, securing a thrilling 4-3 victory against Belgium in Antwerp on Sunday, June 22, 2025. This win helped the team halt a seven-match losing streak, preventing what could have been their worst-ever finish in the competition.

Belgium started the match strongly, with Arthur de Sloover scoring an early goal in the 8th minute. However, India responded in the second quarter when Sukhjeet Singh equalized in the 21st minute, deflecting the ball into the post with precision from a Harmanpreet flick.

The second half was filled with end-to-end action. Belgium regained the lead in the 34th minute through Thibeau Stockbroekx, but India quickly retaliated. Sukhjeet scored again just a minute later, and Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner in the 36th minute, putting India ahead 3-2.

Belgium leveled the score in the 41st minute with a goal from Hugo Labouchere, his first international goal. The decisive moment came in the 59th minute when India reviewed a challenge inside the circle. The review confirmed a foul, resulting in a penalty stroke. Captain Harmanpreet Singh stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, securing the 4-3 victory for India.

Sukhjeet Singh's two goals were crucial in India's win, with valuable contributions also coming from Amit Rohidas and Harmanpreet Singh. This victory ensured India finished their Pro League campaign on a high, avoiding the bottom spot and ending their losing streak. The win showcased the team's resilience and determination, particularly after a string of disappointing results in the European leg of the Pro League. This was also a memorable match for Sukhjeet and Dilpreet Singh, as they both completed their 100th international caps.

While this win provides a much-needed boost, India will now focus on securing a World Cup spot through the Asia Cup, especially after a challenging Pro League campaign.
