Colorado Avalanche: Three Key Forwards to Pursue in the 2025 NHL Free Agency Market.

The Colorado Avalanche are heading into the 2025 offseason looking to improve after a disappointing first-round exit in the Stanley Cup playoffs. While their top-six forward group appears relatively set, the bottom-six needs some work, and with potential trades on the horizon to free up cap space, the Avalanche should consider targeting these three free agent forwards to bolster their lineup for the 2025-26 season.

Anthony Mantha

A familiar name looking to rejuvenate his career, Anthony Mantha could be a low-risk, high-reward option for the Avalanche. Mantha, who turns 31 in October, has three 20-goal seasons under his belt but has struggled with injuries and consistency. After signing a one-year contract with the Calgary Flames last summer, his season was cut short due to a knee injury after only 13 games. However, before the injury, he was on pace for a 25-goal, 44-point season, showing he still has offensive capabilities.

Given his injury history and inconsistency, Mantha will likely have to accept a one-year deal at or near the league minimum or potentially a professional tryout (PTO). The Avalanche could offer a heavily bonus-laden contract that can be fully buried in the minors if he doesn't perform. This would be a low-risk gamble with a potentially decent payoff. If Mantha can stay healthy and find his scoring touch, he could be a valuable addition to the Avalanche's bottom-six, potentially even filling in on the top-six if injuries arise.

Anthony Beauvillier

Another potential target for the Avalanche is 28-year-old winger Anthony Beauvillier. Beauvillier has bounced around to six teams in the past three seasons, failing to stick since his time with the New York Islanders. In 81 games with the Washington Capitals this season, Beauvillier scored 15 goals and 10 assists for 25 points.

Beauvillier is a versatile player who can play anywhere in the bottom-six and provides speed and energy. He is also a decent playmaker and has a good shot. While he may not be a top-end scorer, he can provide secondary offense and be a valuable asset on the penalty kill. He could likely be signed to a reasonable contract.

Mikael Granlund

Mikael Granlund, a veteran forward, could bring valuable experience and versatility to the Avalanche. He can fill in at center or wing, depending on where coach Jared Bednar sees fit. Granlund has a history of solid offensive production, with five goals and 27 assists.

Granlund is projected to receive a two-year deal. While this might be a steep price given the Avalanche's cap situation, Granlund could be a valuable addition.
