Chelsea are reportedly nearing a deal to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old has emerged as a priority target for the Blues this summer, as they look to bolster their attacking options on the left flank. With Jadon Sancho's loan spell not being made permanent, the need for reinforcements in that area has become increasingly apparent for new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Talks between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ongoing, with both clubs currently in the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, facilitating face-to-face discussions. Chelsea have already agreed to personal terms with Gittens on a seven-year contract, demonstrating the club's commitment to securing the talented winger. Gittens himself is said to be keen on a return to England, further smoothing the negotiation process. He has communicated his desire to leave Dortmund to the club.

However, an agreement between the two clubs is yet to be reached. Chelsea's initial bid of £42 million was rejected by Dortmund, who are holding out for a fee closer to £50 million. Despite the Bundesliga club's valuation, Chelsea remain optimistic about striking a deal. The Blues are reportedly preparing a fresh offer that they hope will be enough to convince Dortmund to part ways with their prized asset.

Notably, Bayern Munich have also reportedly entered the race for Gittens, after missing out on their primary target, Florian Wirtz, who joined Liverpool. However, reports suggest that Gittens is not interested in negotiating with any other club while Chelsea remain in the picture, giving the Blues a significant advantage.

While Chelsea's pursuit of Gittens intensifies, the club is also keeping an eye on other potential targets, including Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho. However, Chelsea have made Gittens their clear preference for the left-hand side of their attack, suggesting that a move for Garnacho is unlikely if the Gittens deal goes through.

Chelsea's interest in Gittens highlights their determination to strengthen their attacking options and build a squad capable of competing for major honors. The potential arrival of the English winger would provide a significant boost to their squad, adding pace, creativity, and goals to their attack.
