Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) head coach Luis Enrique is set to undergo surgery after fracturing his collarbone in a cycling accident on Friday. The club released a statement expressing their support and wishing him a swift recovery. Further updates on his condition will be shared in due course.

The incident occurred on Friday, September 5th, 2025, while the Spaniard was enjoying time off during the international break. He was promptly treated by emergency services and taken to a hospital, where the fractured collarbone was diagnosed. Medical reports suggest that the fracture was severe enough to require surgery, potentially due to the bone shifting out of place. Collarbone fractures are common injuries resulting from falls onto the shoulder or an outstretched arm.

The 55-year-old manager had led PSG to a successful run, including winning their first Champions League title last season. They also beat Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup last month and have won their opening three games of the Ligue 1 season. After losing the Club World Cup final to Chelsea in July, PSG has won their first four games of the season.

It is currently unknown what caused the cycling accident. The timing of the injury presents a challenge for PSG, as they are scheduled to play against Lens on September 14. It remains to be seen how Enrique's absence will impact the team's preparations and performance in the upcoming match and beyond. The club has not yet announced any details regarding interim coaching arrangements or the expected duration of Enrique's recovery.
