In the fifth inning, Gonzales singled to right-center, scoring Reynolds and increasing the Pirates' lead to 4-2. However, the Brewers answered in the bottom of the fifth when Christian Yelich hit a two-run home run, tying the game at 4-4. The Pirates retook the lead in the sixth inning when Isiah Kiner-Falefa tripled to right, scoring Pham and making it 5-4.

The Brewers threatened to score again but were ultimately held off by the Pirates' pitching and defense. David Bednar closed out the game, earning his 11th save of the season. Chase Shugart was credited with the win, while Nick Mears took the loss for the Brewers.

Several players had notable performances. For the Pirates, Nick Gonzales went 5-for-5. Tommy Pham contributed with a home run and an important run scored. For the Brewers, Christian Yelich homered.

The game lasted 2 hours and 53 minutes and was played in 95-degree weather. The attendance was 26,791.
