Harvey Elliott propelled England's U21 squad to another shot at European glory with a stellar performance against the Netherlands in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship semi-final. Elliott's two goals secured a 2-1 victory, sending the Young Lions to their second consecutive final and raising hopes of retaining the title they won two years prior.

The Liverpool midfielder showcased his brilliance throughout the match, held in sweltering conditions in Bratislava. Elliott had an early chance, forcing a good save from the Dutch goalkeeper Robin Roefs. England dominated the first half, but were unable to convert their dominance into goals. Just after the hour mark, Elliott broke the deadlock. After a fine pass from Elliot Anderson, Elliott controlled the ball with a lovely touch before slamming an effort into the roof of the net.

However, the Netherlands responded quickly. Substitute Noah Ohio capitalized on a loose touch from Charlie Cresswell and scored with his first touch, whipping a stunning finish past James Beadle. With extra time looming, Elliott stepped up again to secure England's place in the final. He surged through the center of the Dutch defense and fired a brilliant shot from the edge of the area, sealing the 2-1 victory.

Elliott's performance earned him the Player of the Match award, with UEFA highlighting his constant threat to the Netherlands defense and his involvement in almost every chance England created. His two goals brought his tally to 13 at U21 level.

After the match, Elliott expressed his excitement and determination. He acknowledged the tough nature of the game and praised his teammates' resilience. Elliott, who was also part of the winning squad in the 2023 U21 European Championship, emphasized the team's focus on resting and recovering for the final. "We want to do it for ourselves, everyone who can't be out here and the supporters both here and back home," he added.

Goalkeeper James Beadle echoed Elliott's sentiments, expressing his excitement about reaching the final and his belief in the team's ability to beat anyone. England's U21s, managed by Lee Carsley, displayed an impressive performance throughout the tournament, overcoming a shaky group stage to reach the final.

England will face either Germany or France in the final. While acknowledging the strength of their potential opponents, the focus remains on their own capabilities and the desire to bring home another trophy. The Young Lions aim to replicate their success from two years ago and continue their impressive run in the U21 European Championship. With Harvey Elliott in outstanding form, England has a strong chance to make history and secure back-to-back titles.
