A prominent West Indies cricketer is facing severe accusations of sexual assault and rape from at least 11 women, including a teenager, triggering widespread concern and condemnation. The allegations include sexual assault, rape, harassment, and unwanted advances. The cricketer in question is reportedly from Guyana and is currently part of the national team.

The accusations first surfaced in a report by Guyana-based Kaieteur News. The report detailed accounts from multiple women who allege they were sexually assaulted, raped, or subjected to unwanted sexual advances by the cricketer. Following the initial report, more women have come forward with similar allegations and supporting evidence like screenshots, messages, voice notes, and medical records.

One of the alleged incidents involves a woman who was 18 years old at the time of the alleged assault on March 3, 2023. According to her family, the cricketer, who was known to them, picked her up from her workplace under the guise of socializing and took her to a house in New Amsterdam, Berbice. The woman felt safe initially but was allegedly led upstairs and forcibly raped. The family alleges that there have been attempts to cover up the case.

The family of the 18-year-old also accused the cricketer's entourage and Guyanese law enforcement of trying to suppress the case. The victim's mother stated that her daughter trusted the accused and has been emotionally devastated since the incident. The family asserts they possess substantial evidence, including phone records and eyewitness accounts, contradicting any denial of the incident. They also stated that they did not accept any money offered to settle the matter, seeking justice instead.

Lawyer Nigel Hughes, representing one of the complainants, stated that initial complaints were made roughly two years ago, prompting an investigation. While prosecutors recommended charges, the matter seemingly disappeared from public view. Hughes noted that renewed inquiries recently yielded no updates from authorities, causing frustration among the alleged victims.

Several reports suggest that Guyanese law enforcement has been involved in attempts to cover up the allegations. One woman who recently reported an incident to the Guyana Police Force became emotionally distressed during an official interview and was hospitalized.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has stated they are unaware of the situation and are therefore not in a position to comment. SportsMax TV reached out to CWI, and CWI President Kishore Shallow stated that they were unaware of the circumstances.

The allegations have sparked outrage and concern, with many calling for a thorough and transparent investigation. The accusations could have severe repercussions for the West Indies cricket team's reputation.
