Harry Kane delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice to propel Bayern Munich to a 4-2 victory over Flamengo in a thrilling Club World Cup encounter. This win secures Bayern's spot in the quarter-finals, setting up a highly anticipated clash with Paris Saint-Germain. The match took place on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Bayern Munich started strong, with Erick Pulgar's own goal giving them an early lead. Shortly after, Harry Kane extended their advantage with a precise left-footed shot that found the back of the net. However, Flamengo responded resiliently, with Gerson firing in an impressive strike to reduce the deficit. Just before halftime, Leon Goretzka added another goal for Bayern with a brilliant long-range effort, making it 3-1.

In the second half, Flamengo fought back once again when Michael Olise was penalized for a handball in the area. Jorginho, the former Arsenal midfielder, calmly converted the resulting penalty, narrowing Bayern's lead. But Harry Kane once again proved decisive, restoring Bayern's two-goal cushion with a clinical finish into the bottom-right corner. Kane's goals were particularly significant, considering his combined expected goals (xG) value was just 0.31, highlighting his accuracy and efficiency in front of goal.

Bayern Munich's victory also brought an end to Flamengo's 11-match unbeaten streak. Throughout the match, Bayern displayed a potent attacking force, finishing with eight shots, just one more than Flamengo had conceded in their previous three group matches combined. Despite Flamengo accumulating a higher expected goals (xG) value of 1.37 compared to Bayern's 0.91, Bayern's clinical finishing proved to be the difference. It is worth noting that Jorginho's penalty accounted for a significant portion (0.79) of Flamengo's xG.

The upcoming quarter-final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain is set to be a blockbuster encounter. PSG secured their place in the quarter-finals with a dominant 4-0 victory over Inter Miami. With both teams showcasing their attacking prowess in the round of 16, football fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the clash between these two European giants.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is taking place in the USA from June 15 to July 13. Bayern Munich is among the 32 teams participating in the tournament. Bayern Munich debuted their new away jersey in their final Bundesliga home game of the season and have now released their red and white 2025/26 home threads, which they'll wear for the first time at the Club World Cup.
