The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved a substantial budget of Rs 18.3 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26. This decision was made during the 78th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, with key officials and board members in attendance both physically and via video link.

During the meeting, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza briefed the members on the key features of the new budget. The Board unanimously approved the estimated budget for the financial year 2025–26 and expressed satisfaction with the utilization of the 2024–25 budget. The decisions taken in the previous board meeting were also formally ratified.

While the PCB has approved the budget, it has not yet provided a detailed breakdown of the estimated expenditures and revenues for the 2025-26 season. In the previous budget, a significant portion of the PCB's expenses, nearly Rs 18 billion, was allocated to rebuilding and renovating stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi for the ICC Champions Trophy.

In an effort to bolster cricket at the grassroots level, the Board has decided to annually reward the best-performing region. Additionally, staff performance will be regularly monitored. The PCB also lauded the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) success, with noted massive increase in live streaming views, with plans to enhance cricket regionally.

Those in attendance at the meeting included PCB BoG members Zaheer Abbas, Sajjad Ali Khokhar, Zafarullah, Tariq Sarwar, and PCB Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sameer Ahmed. Also participating in the meeting were PSL CEO Salman Naseer, Director Media and Communications Aamer Mir, Director Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi, and Head of Women's Cricket Rafia Haider.
