The United States and Mexico will face off in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Final at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on July 6. This will be the eighth time the two countries have met in the tournament's championship match. Mexico has been victorious in five of those encounters, with the USA winning the other two, including the most recent meeting at the 2021 edition. The United States will be playing in its 13th Gold Cup Final, while Mexico plays in the title game for the 12th time.

Both teams reached this point by winning their groups. The U.S. had arguably stronger results in the tournament, going unbeaten in the group stage, winning all three matches, and conceding only one goal. Mexico tied with Costa Rica in points but won the group on goal differential. In the semifinals, the U.S. defeated Guatemala 2-1. Diego Luna scored twice for the United States. Mexico outlasted Honduras 1-0 in the second semifinal match, with Raúl Jiménez scoring the deciding goal.

Mexico is the all-time leader in Gold Cup titles with nine, followed by the U.S. with seven. Mexico is looking to defend their title after beating Panama 1-0 in the 2023 final. Mexico is aiming to be the first repeat Gold Cup winner since 2009 and 2011. The United States last won the Gold Cup in 2021. Only once has a country other than Mexico or the United States lifted the trophy – Canada in 2000. The United States and Mexico have combined to win 17 out of 18 possible Gold Cups.

This summer's Gold Cup marks the last major competition for both the US and Mexico before they co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Canada. At No. 17, Mexico is the highest FIFA-ranked opponent the United States will face during this Gold Cup tournament. The final is the toughest test yet for a United States squad that is growing and developing, but one with a lot of momentum behind them.
