Kelsey Plum of the Los Angeles Sparks recently achieved a significant milestone in her WNBA career during a game against the Indiana Fever. Plum's performance helped the Sparks secure an 89-87 victory over the Fever. In 37 minutes of play, Plum recorded 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists, shooting 6-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

This win also marked a historical achievement for Plum, as she now holds a 21-1 all-time record against the Fever. This represents the highest win percentage (95.45%) of any player in WNBA history against a single opponent, with a minimum of 20 games played. The only loss Plum has suffered against the Fever was on August 27, 2019, when Indiana defeated the Las Vegas Aces 86-71. Plum, then with the Aces, scored 17 points in that game.

Notably, Caitlin Clark was absent from the Fever lineup due to an injury. Clark's absence didn't diminish the intensity of the game, as the Fever's other players stepped up, pushing the Sparks to a narrow victory. The Fever held an 87-83 lead in the final two minutes, but the Sparks rallied, scoring the last six points to win. Azura Stevens led the Sparks with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Dearica Hamby added 18 points and Rickea Jackson had 15.

Plum's dominance against the Fever is particularly notable considering her previous seven seasons were spent with the Las Vegas Aces. Prior to July 3, 2025, the Fever had not defeated the Aces since 2019. With Plum now on the Sparks, this trend of dominance has continued. The Sparks have won both contests against the Fever this season.

The Sparks' victory improved their record to 6-13, placing them sixth in the Western Conference standings. They are currently three games behind the Las Vegas Aces and four games behind the Golden State Valkyries. The Sparks will next play the Minnesota Lynx at home on July 10. Meanwhile, the Fever, now 9-9, will host the Golden State Valkyries.

Plum's interactions with Clark have garnered attention in the past. Recently, Plum playfully told a fan wearing a Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever t-shirt at a Sparks game to "Do better," before gifting the fan an L.A. Sparks t-shirt. Earlier, during a game against the Fever on June 26, Plum jokingly gestured to a referee to call a technical foul on Clark, who was on the sidelines due to injury, for stepping onto the court.

Plum has also been outspoken about the shooting struggles of Clark and other WNBA players, possibly attributing it to the increased number of games and the importance of recovery. Some fans have even interpreted Plum's comments about "numbers" as subtle shade towards Clark, who is known for putting up impressive statistics. Plum has also acknowledged Clark's impact on the WNBA, recognizing her ability to draw fans and bring excitement to the game. Despite any perceived rivalry, Plum seems to relish the opportunity to compete against Clark.
