Iga Swiatek's relationship with Wimbledon's grass courts appears to be blossoming in 2025, as she progresses into the quarterfinals with a dominant 6-4, 6-1 victory over Clara Tauson. This marks Swiatek's second Wimbledon quarterfinal appearance, the first since 2023.

Swiatek's journey to the quarterfinals wasn't without its challenges. Her match against Tauson started with a "shaky" serve, including a series of double faults. Despite the shaky start and the blustery conditions on Court One, Swiatek quickly found her rhythm. After going down 3-1 in the first set, she managed to regain control, demonstrating her adaptability and mental fortitude. Swiatek acknowledged her initial struggles, stating, "Even though the beginning was pretty shaky with the double faults, I managed to play well and solid". She also noted Tauson's apparent illness, expressing hope for her recovery.

Prior to her match against Tauson, Swiatek displayed her growing confidence on grass with a straight-sets victory over Danielle Collins. Swiatek said she was "in the zone" during the match against Collins, emphasizing the importance of bravery and proactive play. "I knew what I wanted to play and I knew I need to be brave you know and uh just let my hand you know do the job uh play fast you know and uh proactive from the beginning you know because you can't let Danielle you know play her winners," Swiatek explained. This strategic approach and positive mindset have been crucial to her success at Wimbledon this year.

Swiatek's improved grass-court game is no secret. When asked about her evolving relationship with the surface, Swiatek admitted that she is "learning to love it," stating, "honestly it's much more fun this year". She also highlighted the importance of practice, noting that she's had practices "where the ball was listening to me which was you know pretty new on grass". This newfound connection with the grass has translated into impressive results, as she has now won seven grass-court matches in 2025, tying her highest mark in an entire season, which she also achieved in 2023.

Looking ahead, Swiatek is set to face Liudmila Samsonova in the quarterfinals. Swiatek holds a 4-0 head-to-head record against Samsonova. While they have never played on grass before, Swiatek has won eight straight sets against Samsonova since 2022.

As Swiatek continues her Wimbledon campaign, her growing comfort and confidence on grass are evident. With each match, she is not only showcasing her skills but also solidifying her status as a top contender for the title.
