Kelsey Mitchell etched her name into the Indiana Fever record books on Wednesday night, surpassing Tamika Catchings for the most three-pointers made in franchise history. Mitchell entered the game against the New York Liberty just one three-pointer shy of tying Catchings' record of 606. She wasted no time, drilling a 25-footer roughly two minutes into the game to tie the record. With 3:31 remaining in the first quarter, she hit a stepback from the top of the key to surpass the Fever legend, securing her place as the franchise's all-time leader with 607 made three-pointers. The team acknowledged Mitchell's accomplishment on social media, with a post that read, "FRANCHISE RECORD. Kelsey Mitchell has passed Tamika Catchings for the most three-pointers made in franchise history". Catchings also offered her congratulations to Mitchell, stating, "Records are meant to be broken, but if there's anybody that would break it, I'm glad that it's you".

Mitchell's achievement extends beyond the Fever's franchise records, as she is also climbing the WNBA's overall leaderboard. During the game against the Liberty, she passed Catchings again, this time to take over the No. 11 spot in league history for three-pointers made. She is now chasing Seattle Storm star Jewell Loyd, who holds the No. 10 spot with 610 career three-pointers.

Drafted second overall in 2018, Mitchell has spent her entire eight-season WNBA career with the Fever. She has become a consistent and efficient scorer, averaging a career-best 19.3 points per game in 2025. Her scoring prowess and veteran leadership have been valuable assets to the team, especially as the Fever continue to develop young stars like Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.

While Clark has captured much of the spotlight, Mitchell's record-breaking performance provided Fever fans with another reason to celebrate. Clark, who is currently sidelined with a groin injury, set a new franchise record for three-pointers made in a single season in 2024 with 122, surpassing Mitchell's previous record of 102 set in 2023. Clark is also set to participate in the 2025 WNBA STARRY 3-Point Contest during All-Star weekend.

Mitchell's journey with the Fever has been marked by consistent growth and achievement. In 2019, she set a new WNBA record for most three-pointers in a game with nine. In 2022, she broke Tamika Catchings' record for most consecutive games played in Fever history. On July 5, 2025, Mitchell played her 251st game with Indiana, surpassing Briann January for second-most games played in franchise history. Over her WNBA career, Mitchell has earned three All-Star appearances.

As Mitchell continues her WNBA journey, she remains a key player for the Indiana Fever. Her ability to score from beyond the arc, combined with her experience and leadership, will be crucial as the team strives for success in the seasons to come.
