England defeated India by eight wickets in a rain-affected second Women's One Day International (ODI) at Lord's on Saturday, July 19, 2025, leveling the three-match series 1-1. The match was initially reduced to 29 overs per side due to persistent rain. India posted a total of 143 for 8, which England chased down successfully, reaching a revised target of 115 in 21 overs.

After winning the toss, England chose to field first. India's batting lineup struggled against the English spinners, particularly Sophie Ecclestone, who was later named Player of the Match for her impressive figures of 3-27. India's start was shaky, losing Pratika Rawal early. Smriti Mandhana top-scored for India with 42, but steady bowling from England restricted India to a subpar total. Harleen Deol contributed 16 before Ecclestone dismissed her. Key Indian batters like Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh also fell cheaply to Ecclestone's bowling. Deepti Sharma remained unbeaten on 30, providing some resistance towards the end of the innings.

England's chase was well-paced, with openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont establishing a strong foundation. They added 54 runs for the first wicket before Sneh Rana dismissed Beaumont for 34. Amy Jones remained unbeaten on 46, guiding England to victory. Nat Sciver-Brunt contributed 21 before being dismissed by Kranti Goud. Sophie Dunkley sealed the win with a boundary, finishing on 5 not out.

The win was crucial for England, who were looking to bounce back from their defeat in the first ODI at Southampton. In that match, India chased down a target of 259, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. Deepti Sharma's unbeaten 62 was instrumental in India's victory.

The series is now tied, with the final and deciding game to be played on Tuesday, July 22, at Durham. Both teams will be aiming for victory to secure the series win.
