Bryan Mbeumo has officially become a Manchester United player, finalizing his move from Brentford in a deal worth up to £71 million. The Cameroon international has signed a contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2030, with an option to extend for a further year.

The transfer marks a significant investment for United, with a guaranteed £65 million to be paid in four installments, plus £6 million in achievable add-ons based on Premier League appearances and goals. Brentford stands to make a substantial profit on Mbeumo, whom they initially signed from Troyes for just £4 million in 2019. During his time with the Bees, Mbeumo scored 70 goals and provided over 50 assists in 242 appearances. Only seven players in Brentford's history have played more games and scored more goals than him.

Manchester United's pursuit of Mbeumo involved weeks of negotiations and rejected bids. They had been in talks with Brentford for over a month, with an initial offer of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons turned down. Tottenham Hotspur also expressed interest in the player, but Mbeumo always favored a move to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo completed his medical and formalized the contract details, and he is expected to join the squad for their pre-season tour in the United States.

This acquisition will push United's spending past the £120 million mark, and with the club still in the market for a new striker and goalkeeper, further player sales may be necessary to generate funds. After missing out on targets such as Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, and Hugo Ekitike, United's search for a new center-forward continues.

The arrival of Mbeumo is expected to bolster Manchester United's attack. His versatility and goal-scoring record make him a valuable asset for manager Ruben Amorim as United aims to improve their performance in the upcoming season. The club hopes that Mbeumo can help them regain their trophy-winning form.

Brentford described the transfer as a club-record sale.
